For Shohei's sake, I hope that Doc's stance does change. This can't go on, can it? It's very close to the playoffs, and the Dodgers aren't winning shit if Shohei's not anywhere near healthy. If you're not gonna shut him down, then at least give him rest days in-between. I know that Shohei's become bigger than the game at this point, but enough is enough.

It would honestly be super selfish of him and malpractice from the Dodgers FO if he didn't get put on the IL.
I don't get how they have a close view on the way he's batting and grimacing and what not EVERY AB and think he's fine its ridiculous.

出し続ける意味が分からない。無理して出場させてみたけど、悪化する一方じゃん。衰弱した大谷でなんとか第2シードにしがみついたとしても（助けになってないけど）、本人もチームも抜け殻のままで、どうせNLDSで静かに姿を消して第2シードが無意味になるだけだ。この2ヶ月間見てきたけど、良くなる兆しなんてどこにもない。
同じことを繰り返して違う結果を期待するなんて、まさに狂気の沙汰だよ。

It makes no sense to keep playing him. We've tried letting him play through it and if anything it's getting worse. Even if a diminished Shohei somehow helps us scratch to the 2 seed (it's not helping), he and the team will continue to be a shell of itself, likely going down quietly in the NLDS making the 2 seed a Pyrrhic victory. Again, we've been watching this for 2 months and there's no indication anything is going to get better.
The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results.

The way Roberts talks about this is so baffling. It's as if he has a) no idea what is happening with Sho, b), no way of finding out, and c) if he did find out, no influence whatsoever on what could happen thereafter. Dude? I get that he's your franchise player and that as such he gets a little more latitude. But this is ridiculous at this point.

状態が良くないのは同意だけど、あいつ空振りしたり悪い球投げた後に顔を歪める癖があるよね。昔からよくやってる。文化的な違いなのか何なのか知らんけど。

I agree he's not well but he does have a bad habit of wincing a lot. He's been doing it his whole career after missing swings or throwing bad pitches. He does it often, kind of weird. Not sure if it's a cultural thing

Remember a few years ago when people blasted the Angels for running Ohtani into the ground? Ya, that's Roberts and his crew right about now. He admits to seeing it for a few weeks now and has done nothing about it.

結局は、大谷本人が激しい負けず嫌いを抑えてプレーオフ前に休む気になれるかどうかだな。連覇を目指すチームはどこも怪我に苦しむし、3連覇となれば尚更だ。メジャーで最後に3連覇した2000年のヤンキースだってレギュラーシーズンは87勝74敗だった。ドジャースがその成績になるには残りを5勝17敗で終えなきゃいけないくらい余裕がある。
3連覇したレイカーズみたいに、ドジャースもレギュラーシーズンは最低限で乗り切って、プレーオフに全てを懸けるしかない。まずは最大の強みである大谷の二刀流と上位4人のピッチャーの健康が第一だ。大崩れしない限り地区優勝は守れるんだから、今こそコンディションの問題を解決すべき時だよ。
追記：投手として残された時間は限られてるって本人も分かってるはず。9月初旬に力を使い果たすくらいなら、10月下旬のために温存しておこうよ。

ultimately it's gonna be up to ohtani if he can cool down his immense competitive spirit to take a break before the playoffs. every team aiming to repeat struggles with injuries, even more so for teams aiming to threepeat. the last team to threepeat in baseball were the 00 yankees and they ended 87-74. the dodgers would need to finish 5-17 to hit that mark.
like the threepeat lakers, the dodgers are gonna have to rely on doing just enough to get by in the RS and send it in the playoffs. that starts with their prime strengths - ohtani's two-way play and their best four pitchers. short of a total collapse / a dbacks heater the dodgers shouldn't have too much trouble holding onto their division so now is the time to sort out as many health kinks as possible imo
e: ohtani’s clock is ticking as a pitcher and he knows it. why not save enough of yourself to reach late oct instead of early sept

I don’t see anything surprising here. Baseball is a long season, the Dodgers have probably played almost an entire third season within the postseason alone. Every other team in baseball wants to take them down. Players get older, are more prone to injury, and every team has a window. I think the Dodgers not only took advantage of their window, they smashed through it. What we’re seeing is inevitable. They did what they needed to do, now they’re going to be seeing the younger, healthier teams. They’ll get to the playoffs, will they win? We’ll see.

At this point it's mismanagement allowing him to play. He's an automatic out as is and he can't pitch either. Should have been shelved 2 months ago. This teams going nowhere but downhill fast. No point fighting it by forcing him out there. The team as a whole looks done this season, just put Ohtani on the IL already. Ridiculous...

I suspect he has some serious orthopedic issues. Knee surgery at minimum. And I think his pitching days are numbered.
