甲子園球場はレフト方向への打球が逆風で押し戻されるから、NPBで一番ホームランが出にくい球場なんだよ。飛ばないボールは空気抵抗が大きいから、この逆風の影響をモロに受ける。もし村上と同じ本拠地でプレーしてたら毎年50本以上は打ってるはずだし、パワーなら明らかに村上を超えてる打者だね。

Since NPB dead ball have high air resistance, they are significantly affected by these headwinds. If he played at the same home stadium as Murakami, he would likely hit more than 50 home runs every year, making him a hitter with power that clearly surpasses Murakami’s.

それはすごく興味深いな。NPB特有の事情にはそこまで詳しくないけど、今は一種の「投高打低（デッドボール）」時代だってのは耳にしたことがある。
とはいえ空振り率やボール球スイング率の高さはスイング好きだから説明がつかないけど、村上に匹敵する（あるいは言われてる通りそれ以上の）パワーがあるなら、打者有利な球場に入ればとんでもない戦力になるかもしれないな。

Thats very interesting, I am not nearly as versed in the NPB quirks, but I did hear they are kind of in a "deadball" era right now.
That still doesn't account for the very high whiff and chase rate, as he clearly loves to swing, but if he has power comparable to Murakami (or even better as you suggest) then getting him in a hitter friendly park could be gamebreaking.

数字に頼るんじゃなくて、実際にプレーを見ての話だよ。佐藤はゴールデングラブ賞も獲ってるし、守備範囲も広くて足もある。コンタクト能力は上だけど選球眼は劣るし、あそこまでの超弩級のパワーはないにしてもMLBで通用するには十分だ。渡米時点での健康状態もずっといい。それに右打ちだぞ。ランディ・アロザレーナと鈴木誠也を比較するくらい意味がないね。

I guess I meant from actually watching them play, not relying on analytics. Sato won a Gold Glove, has greater range, more speed, etc. He is a greater contact hitter but not as great of an eye, and not the same gargantuan power but plenty good enough for the MLB. He's also been far healthier coming into the league. And he's a righty. It's as useful as comparing Randy Arozarena and Seiya Suzuki.

Make sense, I am seeing now that Murakami missed more than half a season his last year. Looking at the stats I would never have guessed he would make a gold glove winner, but thats why you watch too and not rely on just numbers!
