pure dual nationality luck, he chose Japan but could’ve represented a good few countries
That's why PSG wanted to sign him, he will become the best goalkeeper in the premier league in 5 years, vs James trafford
I’m just saying that people born and raised in a country may choose another for personal reasons, literally every single footballer ever has a way to play for 2 countries and so have a choice if multiple want them
However, the option of becoming an athlete for another country did not exist for him
from what i know he got an offer from the USA and Japan but decided on Japan as his national team
What I am saying is that, in his mind, there was no option to choose another country
what is your point what are you on about
wasn't he born in the U.S? but I think he was raised in Japan
like arsenal are gonna go in for Trafford as Raya is ageing. Maybe in 2 3 years.
Hi, Japanese here. I know it's a bit of a tricky matter but he moved to Japan when he was very young and he'd been playing at the Japanese club before going abroad, where he learned distribution from Nishikawa, a legendary Japanese goalkeeper.
Japanese can tell if they're actually (culturally) Japanese through his demeanor and class. We Japanese all know he's Japanese because of that! Even someone who's been in Japan for decades can't simply gain the "core of Japanese". Hope I'm making sense.
I get what you mean generally. In this case, I wouldn't call it a luck because he's out and out Japanese by behaviour to any Japanese talking to him. His appearance is what draws a commentary like yours, purely from outside observers who don't know how else to tell the difference.
im not basing it off his looks, it is documented he was born in the US but raised in japan
give me a reason it is, all i said there is he got an offer from 2 nations and chose one that he had more of a connection to.
the point is quite obvious, he got 2 offers but chose the team that he had more of a connection too, the entire reason for saying that its ‘luck’ is because even though he was raised in japan there was always the possibility that he could have joined team USA, nothing in football is guaranteed.
's prettyp harsh, I would say he has been ok in that leeds side, he really needed that move to accelerate his career.
what? hes been good for leeds and a top 6 keeper in the league for some a top 8 keeper
8 in the prem? What's pickford though
what's your point? So what if he was born in the us? Doesn't change the fact that he was always going to represent Japan since since the core of his character has always been japanese
Why didn't he bear his dad's name
First of all, he couldn't even speak English properly at first. He only learned it through sheer talent and hard work, so other than his DNA he’s 100% Japanese through and through
when does not knowing a language stop a player from playing for a different national team, olise is a big example. Its not about if the player is born in a country so has to play for them, i’m not saying that. All i’m saying is that he could have, every player could has a reason, played for the US but chose japan.
im not saying because he was born in the US he has to play for team USA. All that im saying is that he could have, key word there could, played for the US as every player has some reason for every decision they may make and if he had some form of attachment to the US that made him want to play for them then he could have. I always call everything luck because fate is a weird word and nothing is fully set in stone yk.
You just said he's 50% african and born in the US, how the f is that 100% japanese?
yeah but literally what is your point? what is the point in saying "he could have played for the us blah blah blah" like what are you trying tp prove here?
trying to prove anything, there is nothing to prove because everything is already done and suzuki is a japanese international. All i have been saying which people are trying to overcomplicate is that there was luck to it, he couldve chosen the US but chose japan, simple as that. There is nothing to prove in that statement because its factually correct. Nobody knows what and why apart from the person themself why they made a decision.
raised in japan and has a large amount of attachment to the country by that, he did get an offer from the US and japan.
It makes sense that he would represent Japan if thats where he grew up and lived most of his life, he likely identifies as Japanese and their culture
can't agree with you more. Ghana is a football nation 😅😂❤❤
explain it to me because i would like to learn.
The local Parma journalist who interviewed Suzuki said, 'He’s the quintessential nice guy that every father would want his daughter to date.'"
You know, when you wake up each day, try to start by thinking positively and then maybe you won't feel like starting random arguments with strangers on the internet due to your own self loathing.
when did I start an argument with you?? 😂
You know what I apologise for saying his mixed it’s my bad
It clearly means that he recognises himself as 100% Japanese, he may well be mixed but when someone has pride in the nation they represent, societal classification means nothing, do you understand now?
This guy will go places. Very solid.
Casillas thinks he’s the Madrid successor
He’s being what Onana should have been at Utd. Poor Onana
We where meant to buy him too to replace onana. I think United are getting trolled by their owners, managers and FA. The amount of players we miss out on like Haaland, Caicedo, Suzuki before they get developed is a joke. That’s all in recent years.
We scouted him pre onana but chose onana instead
This was kinsky before they ruined his confidence
's the craziest part people dont realise 😅
I know, people think he could've been onanas replacement but he was meant to be De Geas. We knew about him before his move to Italy
to believe Haaland would have gone to United when his dad played for City..
How is this a reflection of onana honestly get some fresh air
Ten Hag wanted him as much as he wanted Mason Mount, guess why he didn't get him😂
nope you are wrong. Ole recommended him and ole was his coach at molde just before. (This is before dortmund) He could have easily got the deal done if the board approved it
was because some fake fans thought united desperately needed ball playing gk without proper squad to support the system and onana was top of the list in their mind
simply refused to go at utd
He wanted guaranteed playing time

出生地や家族のルーツに関係なく、ザイオンが素晴らしいのは、何よりも disciplined(規律正しく)、hardworking(勤勉)、humble(謙虚)だからだ。

We need to take a minute & actually understand how incredible it is that Japan now have one of the best young goalkeepers itw.
It's unheard of, Japan has always struggled for a great goalkeeper but this guy, wow.
Edit: Zions father is Ghanaian, his mother is Japanese, he was born in Newark, New Jersey, USA, he moved to Saitama, Japan at a very young age, that is where his unique but extremely beautiful looks come from, he is rare but do not get it twisted, to him, his family & most people, he is 100% Japanese, regardless of birth place or family heritage, Zion is great because he is disciplined, hardworking & humble most of all.
I do not support Aston Villa, I am white & English, my opinion is my own, I hold no favour over any race, culture, ethnicity, gender or sexuality, we are all here on this earth living our own authentic life & I want everyone who has responded to remember that & only spread positive vibes, not negative.
