I guess Hokkaido is my next stop in my Japan trips. I love the onsens and I love baseball. To be able to do BOTH at the same time is crazy.

I'd love to visit Sapporo someday. I went to a game last year where my Hawks played the Fighters and their cheerleaders did the kitsune dance... it was memorable to say the least!

もし大谷翔平がファイターズに残り続けていたら、ここが本拠地になっていただろう。また、ファイターズはいつもエスコンだけで試合をするわけじゃない。北海道全土を代表しているから、年に最低1回は道内の他球場でも試合をする。その一つが、ロシア出身の日本人投手スタルヒンにちなんで名付けられた、北海道旭川市にあるスタルヒン球場だ。

Had Shohei Ohtani stayed with the Fighters, this would have been his home stadium. Also, the Fighters do not play at Es Con all the time; as they represent the whole of Hokkaido, they also play games at other stadiums in the region at least once a year. One such stadium is the Victor Starffin Stadium in Asahikawa City in northern Hokkaido, named after the Russian-born Japanese pitcher Victor Konstantinovich Starffin (1916-1957)

世界一カッコいいスタジアムなのに、立地が残念。絶対にWBCを開催すべきなのにさ。北にありすぎるし、海外の旅行者にとって近くに空港がないんだよね。

It’s the coolest stadium in the world it’s a shame of its location because it should host WBC games for sure. It’s too far north and there’s no close airports for the international travellers that would come.

つまり、トロントのスカイドームを小さくした（率直に言って劣る）模倣品ってことか。それでもカッコいいけど、北米で静かに伝説的な球場となった本家には敵わないよ。

So it is a smaller (and frankly inferior) imitation of the SkyDome in Toronto. Still cool but nothing beats the original, which has quietly become one of the legendary Baseball venues in North America.

6月にそこを訪れたけど、今まで行った中で最高の野球場だったよ！
