In 13 seconds bro said all the "hello" variation known to youtube

I thought exactly the same and wonder if it was on purpose

Even though the NPB is from 1950, they've still been playing "organized" baseball for over 100 years. High School and Amateur.

Not to disagree about approach, as power indeed is treated more as a bonus rather than something sought out, but power has been down for several years because of how dead the baseballs are. With hindsight, is that something you noticed as well?

I'm a Giants fan, and I'll never forget you! I hope you'll come back to Japan again!

I’ve seen three games at Tokyo dome. Amazing fans. Amazing games.

I got the plesure of seeing Lewis Brinson play in japan and in the tokyo dome and it was awesome. 11 year old me idolized him and my walk up song is Still Oh Okay by gunna

5:08 lewis is actually right, professional baseball started not by NPB, but before the war, and baseball has been played since the 19th century iirc

It still hasn't been "hundreds of years" Baseball was introduced about 150 years ago, but it didn't pick up real momentum until at least 1900, and it didn't reach the state where it could support a professional league until the early 1930s. The start of the NPB wasn't a great place to compare to, but even with that being said it doesn't get close to "hundreds of years"

What was your favorite stadium to play in? Hanshin and Sapporo was the best to attend

Bro I might be studying abroad in Japan next Spring. Do you have any tips on where I should go and what I should do because I wanna become a Japanese Baseball fan and learn the culture and expirence so much!

Depends on where you study. Safest bet would be to root for a team near you.

24:46 Japanese food is to die for, American food is to die from
Also, I need the story on the shirt

I just got my first card of a 2 weeks ago! I collect him cuz he makes video on this channel. If anyone wants to know what was the card it was a 2012 leaf metal draft auto card number BA-LB2

Shoutout my boy Kotaro Kiyomiya on the hamfighters. Met him at a Seattle Kraken game and took a photo. W video from big Unc Lewis

Is just fighters

Ham is from the company that owns the team, Nippon-Ham

ProSpi 26 playing on the Fighters as a Star Player and him and Mannami are my favorite players on the team

As a Brit, I was a bit confused about you wanting to shag in the outfield! Means something VERY different here! XD

For Breakfast in Japan, you needed to find a Kisaten that had "morning" service.
Japanese people dont really go out for breakfast at all; if they eat it, they eat it at the crib or just grab a rice ball from the conbini.

Places like Komeda's Coffee and other Nagoya-style Kisaten cafes have breakfast though. Just them.
Oh, and Mickey Ds.

Sam Francisco Giants fan here. I got to watch a Yomiuri Giants game at the Tokyo Dome 2 weeks ago. Everything he describes is what I experienced. Here, it's hard to get the fans to cheer, and they do, it's usually prompted by the PA. There, from before the game even starts they have the flags, drums, horns, and chants going in the outfield. The energy is closer to college football than to MLB. The game I went to was the day after I landed, so my body was still on California time, and the game that started at 6 pm Japan time was 2 am California time. After having 3 of the seatside draft beers that they pour for about $6 bucks, and with the time difference, I fell asleep for about half an inning. That part sucked, especially because I was sitting in the front row by the field. But the game itself was fun.

I lived in Tokyo from 2023 to 2026. It's a shame that I only started going to games in the 2024 season, so I missed you. Great sharing about your experience there.

The language is so difficult. It makes Spanish seem easy. In Español the structure is very similar, the alphabet is almost identical, and the pronunciation is fairly easy. And I still have problems with vocabulary.

I got to see you play at the Tokyo Dome a couple years ago, and you hit a HR against my fav team LOL. As a Marlins fan, I was happy to see you play though.
Anyway, I came over from the States and played a year in the Shikoku Island league about 12 years ago.. Obviously a much lower level, but I was surprised by the different drills they did. Just the amount of bat control stuff they do. Its easy to see why so many hitters make great contact. As a pitcher, it was pretty annoying lol.

In your clean-shaven headshot at 8:11, you look like Magic Johnson

Tokyo Giants hater here. But I love this video. Thanks!

Hawks fan here, its indeed fun to games and enjoy that atmosphere.

That was an awesome video, Lewis. Thank you.

You got any restaurant recommendations?

I'm watching this I think Ohtani is just a cheat code. Besides people are going to say the Dodgers are going to win, they always win and get Asian women.

Don't know if they'll be interested in baseball or only for Ohtani the idol. He's there for the ladies to swoon.

Tying this as LA goes to the NLCS, again. 2026.

“Shag” means something COMPLETELY DIFFERENT everywhere else in the world bruh

Just told everyone you’ve never played ball

? Maybe help a new fan instead of being an insufferable clown?

I lived in Japan for a couple of years thanks to the US Navy, and remains my top preferred international destination. The baseball culture and game day experience is icing on the cake.

This is a GREAT video. Thanks Lewis. I got to know you at OOTP when your were at the draft and seeing you know droping so much knowledge is a crossover I wouldn't have predicted then. Great to see you doing this video (and my others before, not the first time I've seen you). Thanks!!

Some of these movie clip inserts are hilarious 😂

Did you see the movie Mr. Baseball before you went there? Apparently it's pretty accurate to what it's like playing baseball in Japan.

Amazing video. Jealous of the opportunity you got!

Perhaps you told it, then I missed it. What do you do on the Mondays you don't play at? Do you still train or is it a day with time for yourself?

in my opinion, japanese baseball is better in every way. umpires, fans, play style, everything. i really liked that if a guy was hurt, they would pause play to check him out in the clubhouse and allow him back instead of forcing a manager to sub him out. also the respect the players AND umpires had for the game. instead of making everything an ego contest

I see you wore 42. I’m guessing that’s a nice privilege Americans take advantage of. I’m assume 42 isn’t a league wide retired number like it is in MLB.

My dad taught me that the Chiba Lotte Marines were cool growing up because Bobby Valentine managed them

No?
Ichiro played with Blue Waves

’re Right. I mix those 2 teams up all the time 😅

Is it bad I got into the Marines for the same reason? It's such a weird reason to get into a team, but when you don't have geographical location or a lot of star players you know, it's one way to choose I suppose.

And no Marines fan is gonna get accused of being a bandwagoner lol
