Also just to specify further the final is almost always US vs the World. The US bracket and International bracket are separate.

60年代か70年代に一度、決勝にアメリカのチームがいなかった年があったね。あれはメキシコが西地区とアメリカ側のトーナメントを勝ち上がったからだ。2021年（コロナの年）は、国際チームの代わりに地域優勝チームと準優勝チームの両方が出場したんだ。それがまた皮肉な結果になったんだよな。両方のチームが決勝に進む可能性が高いのは西/南西/南東地域だと思われがちだけど、結局、決勝はグレートレイクス地域の2チームになったんだから。

The U.S. didn’t have a team in the final one year in like the 60s or 70s and that was because Mexico won the West region and then the U.S. side of the bracket. In 2021 (Covid year) they took both the regional champion and runner up instead of international teams. That in itself wound up being ironic because you’d think the region most likely to have both teams in the final would be West/Southwest/Southeast, but the championship wound up being the two Great Lakes teams.

They said during the broadcast that while it's hardly a major sport, it definitely has seen an uptick (especially in comparison to before) ever since they made the 2023 WBC.
