ディブ以上のキーパーを獲れるなんて本気で信じてなかったけど、シュートセーブに加えてあの足元のパスがあるなら、歴史的な選手になれるかもしれない。まだ序盤だけどポテンシャルは全部揃ってる。もちろんディブの功績を軽視するつもりはないぞ。クラブ史に残る大好きな選手だ。

Genuinely didn’t believe we could get an upgrade on Dibu but because of his distribution plus his shot stopping, this guy could be one of the greats. It’s still early days but all the attributes are there.
That’s not diminishing everything Dibu did for us. He will always be one of my all time favourite Villa players.

with that being said, i am with OP. suzuki will reach the dizzy heights of the world class greatness for many years to come and i hope he stays with us for a long time winning trophies. kid is special.

Such an incredible and surprising upgrade. Dibu was one of those asshole players; you tolerate his shithousery as cheeky when he’s on *your* team, but he’s annoying as hell as opposition. Plus he’s past his prime. I mean, thank you, Dibu, sincerely, but…..
….holy hell. Here’s an equally huge dude a decade younger, stronger, more disciplined — and locked-in AF. We’re talking potentially a decade with another world class keeper. Absolutely brilliant acquisition (among several). UTV!

直近の活躍に目を奪われてるわけじゃない。客観的データでも裏付けられるけど、正直鈴木の方がマルティネスより上だと思う。ずっと安定してるし、ハイボールの処置もディブ並み、常に集中して無謀なプレー（マンU戦を覚えてるか？）もしない。キックの選択も弾道含めて上だし、何より弾くよりキャッチしようとする。マルティネスのこぼれ球からどれだけ失点したか。昨日のシティ戦もマルティネスだったら2失点は防げなかったはずだ。大好きだよ。

This is not recency bias because it can be observational backed up, but I honestly feel that Suzuki is a better keeper than Martinez.
He's much more stable (some people will undoubtedly argue this is a strength, but I disagree), claims crosses just as well as Dibu, is smart and switched on at all times, isn't reckless (Man Utd match anyone?), his choice of kicks is far superior to Martinez (trajectory, not just general direction), and most importantly, he tries to catch everything rather than letting rebounds fall kindly for the opposition.
That last point is the most critical, as I lost count of the number of goals we conceded because of Dibu's poor handling after stopping a shot.
In the City game yesterday, we could've/would've conceded at least 2 goals that I can think of if we had Martinez in goal rather than Suzuki.
