一理ある。30歳の新人ってのは極端だけど、日本の野球はバスケのユーロリーグみたいなもんだ。優秀な外国籍選手が米国に適応できるのは事実だが、平均的な選手レベルで言えば、日本もユーロリーグもMLBやNBAの平均を下回ってる。

MLBに来たばかりならMLBの新人だ。年齢も、マイナーに10年いようが関係ない。他のリーグで成功してようが同じだろ。日本だけ例外扱いしてるわけじゃない。キューバやメキシコの選手だって全く同じ。ホセ・アブレイユだってキューバで10シーズンプレーしてからア・リーグの新人王を獲ったんだぞ。

Someone who's new to MLB is a rookie in the MLB. It doesn't matter how old they are. It doesn't matter if they've spent 10 years in the minors. And it doesn't matter if they already had successful careers in another league. No one is making an exception for Japan. It's literally the same thing with Cuban and Mexican players. José Abreu played 10 seasons in Cuba before winning AL ROY.

辞書による「ルーキー」の定義を書いておくぞ。
1. 仕事を始めたばかりで経験が乏しい人物。特に軍隊や警察に入ったばかりの人を指す。
2. プロスポーツでの競技歴が1年未満の人物。

特定の「リーグ」での競技歴なんてどこにも書かれてないだろ。第一の定義でも「始めたばかりで経験が浅い」と意味してる点に注目してくれ。NPB出身のプロ選手は、プロ1年目でもなければ経験不足でもないんだよ。

キューバのリーグのことは知らんし、アブレイユが新人王獲った件についても何も言ってない。

here's the dictionary definition of the word ROOKIE:
1. A rookie is someone who has just started doing a job and does not have much experience, especially someone who has just joined the army or police force.
2. A rookie is a person who has been competing in a professional sport for less than a year.

Note that it doesn't say anything about competing in a specific LEAGUE. Also note the first definition that implies they have JUST STARTED and do not have much EXPERIENCE. A professional player from NPB is neither in their first year competing professionally or inexperienced.

I don't know anything about the Cuban league - but I also didn't say anything regarding Jose Abreu's winning ROY.

サッカーだってイギリスのリーグが世界最強じゃなかった時期があった。イタリアのリーグの方が強かった時代もある。もし野球で日本のリーグがアメリカより強くなったらどうなるんだろうって考える時があるよ。突拍子もなく思えるかもしれないが、日本はアメリカの3分の1以上の人口がいて、野球がダントツで一番人気のスポーツだ。アメリカの野球はアメフトやバスケ、ホッケーと人気や金を争わなきゃいけない。日本の夏は高校野球の甲子園が事実上年間最大のスポーツイベントで、会社にテレビを置いて仕事中に試合を見るレベルだ。

だから疑問なんだよ。もし日本リーグがいつかMLBを追い抜いたとしても、日本からの移籍組を「新人王」扱いし続けるのか？アメリカで海外の野球があまり知られてないから成り立ってる状況なんじゃないかって思う。まあ半分冗談だけど、考えるとおもしろいだろ。（ちなみに自分は日本在住の日本野球ファンな🤣）

There was a time when the UK leage in soccer was not the strongest league in the world. At times the Italian league has been stronger. I sometimes wonder what happens if the Japanese league gets stronger then the US league in baseball. It may seem far fetched, but Japan has more than 1/3 the population of the US and baseball is by far the most popular sport. Baseball in the US has to compete against football, basketball and hockey for interest and money. In Japan, practically the most important sporting event of the year is the Koshien high school baseball tournament in the summer. Businesses routinely have TVs installed so people can watch the tournament at work.
So the question for me is: if Japan's league some day overtakes MLB, will a Japanese transfer still feel like "Rookie of the Year"? Somtimes I think the situation really only exists due to the lack of knowledge of overseas baseball in the US. Kind of tongue in cheek, but still think it's interesting to think about. (And yes, I'm a Japanese baseball fan that lives in Japan 🤣)

MLBは世界最高だからワールドシリーズって呼ぶんだ。NPBがMLBと同じレベルならアメリカンシリーズに改名するか、NPBのチームもワールドシリーズに参加させるべきだな。
