Max Muncy will be making, relative to our other core players, a paltry $10.75M this upcoming season. Since 2021, his age 30 season, Muncy’s WAR has been
4.6 (2021), 3.1 (2022), 2.9 (2023), 3.0 (2024), 3.5 (2025), 4.1 (2026). The 2028 season is a CLUB option - $3M. He’s been the most steady out of anybody and it will be awfully hard to say “no” to him beyond 2027 if his output remains, especially when the average cost per WAR ranges ($8M - $10M). On the low end, Max has been worth $136M since 2021 whereas in terms of actual contracts he’s made ~$63M. He’s been willing to take a discount for the team instead of anchor the middle of another lineup elsewhere.
As much as Josue’s approach to the plate and bat look ready, I don’t believe his glove is going to get astronomically better in the offseason. Brandon Gomes even said that they want to make sure that JDP’s defense isn’t just passable. He wants it more advanced than that . I don’t see him supplanting Teoscar right away. The other OFers like Tibbs or Sirota probably get that chance instead.

If your desire is to get him game reps, a Spring Training’s worth of games isn’t enough to show he’s ready. The DR’s Winter League would be ideal if the Dodgers suggest it or allow him to go.

He won’t be a bench bat for the regular season like he was in the playoffs. He’s not going to the minors nor can he DH. He’s the everyday LF barring injury or if he can’t bat

一度NPBと契約したら25歳まで縛られる、みたいなね。NPBで王様待遇を受けるはずの日本人選手が、こんなに早くMLBに来るってのは安全な選択じゃない。何十年もの間、これからの日本人才能がNPBをスキップする道を選んだことはなかった。どうなるかまだ見ものだよ。織田ショウキはNPBの一員じゃない、ただの高校生で、NPBに何の義務も負ってないんだ。システムを欺くことになるのは、NPBチームに入って数年間技術を学び、25歳になる前に引退してMLBに逃げるような場合だろうね。合法的だけど、正しくはない。

Like once they sign an NPB deal they are locked till they are 25. Coming to mlb this early for a japanese player who would have got treated as royalty in NPB is not the safe choice. For decades upcoming japanese talent have not choose this path of skipping npb. Still got to see how it pans out. Shoki Oda is not part of the NPB, he is just a highschool kid and doesn't own any of his services to the NPB. What would be considered cheating the system would be like joining a npb team, learning the craft for some years, retire before turning 25 and escape to mlb. Legal though not proper.
