リリーバーとして欲しがる球団なら、年俸800万ドルすら届かないかもしれない。800万ドルはジェドがリリーバーに出したほぼ上限の額だ（単年でそれをもらったのはネリスとプレスリーくらいのはず）。もし誰かがこの選手を高く評価したとしても、ジェドの許容範囲からは外れるだろう。すでに実績のあるメジャーリーガーにすらその金額を出すのを嫌がるのに、起用法も定まっていない選手ならなおさらだ。それに、もしジェドがこの件で俺たちを驚かせたとしても、愚策だと思う。ブルペンの「頼みの綱」になるだろうし、そうなると実績ゼロの投手を「リリーフのエース」に据えて、他はゴミ漁りで穴埋めすることになる。先発としてならまだしも、ローテーションの3番手補強として3年3000万ドルあたりが妥当だ。今井クラスの金を払うのは、これ以上ローテに不確定要素を抱えるべきじゃないチームにとって、危険な「大型補強」になりかねない。

3/$30M would be more than twice the largest contract Jed has ever given a reliever. With as risk-averse as he is with pitchers, especially relievers, I'd be surprised if he went anywhere near that. As for the Imai comparison, he was much more accomplished in Japan, in terms of time as a starter and overall success. Taira would probably struggle to get close to that number, and I wouldn't be surprised if he were closer to that 3/$30M number for a team wanting him as a starter.
A team wanting him as a reliever might not even reach $25M/year on an offer. $8M would be near the top of what Jed's given a reliever (only Neris and Pressly have gotten that in a single season, I think). If anyone thinks highly of this guy, he'll probably be out of Jed's comfort range. He doesn't like giving that money to established MLB players, let alone someone whose role they might not have defined. Beyond that, if Jed DID shock us all with this, I think it would be foolish. He'd probably be "the guy" for the bullpen, and that means it's more dumpster diving to fill the staff out, with the "relief ace" being a guy with no track record in MLB. As a starter, maybe, but I'd want him as the third-best addition to the rotation and in that 3/$30M range. Giving him Imai money is another area where I fear he'd be the "big splash" for a team that doesn't need more question marks in the rotation.

隠れた逸材なんかじゃない。もし平良を獲るなら、ローテを牽引できるスクーバルやペラルタみたいな投手も一緒に獲る必要がある。反対はしないが、オフの補強プランとしては第3、第4段階の動きだな。

He’s not a hidden gem. If they sign him they need to also go get someone like Skubal or Peralta to lead the rotation. Wouldn’t hate it but it’s like step 3 or 4 in the offseason plan imho
