We need Ohtani healthy period. Diaz is back and Snell is coming next week, so enough about focusing on Shohei and his pitching. You think it's a coincidence that he started to wear down and become ineffective (and now injured) the longer he was in the 2 way role? He's only human and not young anymore so yes he does need rest, but his every day bat and on base % is much more valuable than a semi-quality start every 6 games or so. Problem is that he's such a competitor and loves pitching more than anything, that he said he will not hold back while pitching just to prolong his DH career. That attitude means there's a good chance that the more he pitches, the greater the chance for a more severe injury.
