今のところ33本塁打92打点と、うちのサムライバットは今夜も仕事してくれたよ。よくやった、カズ。インタビューに関して言えば、日本での彼をたくさん見てきたけど、野球とチームメイトに対する敬意がすごく高いんだ。時には退屈に聞こえるかもしれないけど、数日前のブラディみたいに話すことは絶対ないからね。岡本には心から敬意を払ってる。
With 33 HR / 92 RBI's so far, our samurai bat did his job tonight. Nice job Kaz. As for the interviews, I've seen many interviews of him from Japan and one thing I can say is that he has a very high level of honor and respect for the game and his teammates. He may sound boring sometimes, but you will never see him speak like Vladdy did a few days back. Okamoto has my FULL RESPECT.
その通りだね。日本のプロスポーツや人生における労働倫理や文化は全く違うんだ。彼らは自分の仕事で最高になることに全力を尽くす。イチロー、大谷、松井、野茂、ダルビッシュ、王貞治といった過去も今も活躍する日本人MLB選手を見ればわかるよ。十分な財産があっても、自分自身のため、そしてファンやサポーターのために、常に最高のパフォーマンスを目指してるんだ。
Definitely. Japan has a totally different work ethic and culture when it comes to professional sports and life. They're committed to be the best at what they do and you just need to look at past and present Japanese MLB players like Ichiro, Ohtani, Matsui, Nomo, Darvish, Sadaharu Oh, etc. They have all the money they ever need but still they strive to be the best at what they do... for themselves, and for their fans/supporters.

もしシュナイダーが『俺は自分のやったことに対して金をもらってる』って奴じゃなくて、岡本を3番か4番に置いてたら、ブルージェイズはプレーオフに行けてたね。
if schneider put him batting 3rd/4th instead of the Mr. "they pay me for what I did", then the jays are in postseason

恩知らずに聞こえるかもしれないけど、通訳がもう少しマシだったらなって思う。カズの答えがいつも本当に退屈で当たり障りのないものなのか、それとも通訳が答えを単純化しすぎてて、カズの個性を伝えきれてないのか。カズが英語を話し始めたら、それもクールだろうね👀
I know it sounds ungrateful but I wish the translator was a bit better. Either Kaz always has the most boring generic answers ever or the translator is oversimplify the answers/not carrying over Kaz's personality.
Maybe it would also be cool if Kaz gets some english going 👀
日本語が少しわかるけど、正直言って通訳のせいじゃないんだ。彼の答えは日本語でもかなりストレートで当たり障りなく、シンプルで退屈なんだよね😅 これが彼の性格なんだよ。例えば1:17の北米野球で挑戦したことや学んだことについての質問でも、『コンディショニングが大事』って言うだけ…彼が言ってるのはそれだけなんだ。ちょっと味気なくて『退屈』な答えだね。1:52の投球の違いについての質問でも、また彼の答えはシンプルで、『俺が言うまでもないだろう、皆が見て分かる通りだよ（または分かるはずだ）。とにかく、今後もそれに対応できるように準備し続けたい』ってね。
I know a some Japanese and I'll be honest it's not his translator's fault, his answers are pretty straight forward generic and simple/boring even in Japanese😅 this is just his personality. Like even the question at 1:17 about what challenge/learned in North American baseball it's just "conditioning is important" ...that's all he says - bit plain 'boring' answer - 1:52 question about pitching difference again his answer is plain again "don't really need me to tell you, it's exactly as everyone watches can see (or can tell). Again I want/need to keep being prepared for it"

1:17 'challenge' wasn't translated at least.
Surely Kazu isn't very talkative, but it's also true that his translator omit parts of the translation.
岡本は母国語でもそっけない一言返事で有名で、そのせいでみんなが面白がって笑っちゃうくらいなんだ。時々意図的じゃないのに、それがすごく気まずくてコミカルなんだよね。間違いなく通訳のせいじゃないよ。この人は、山本（由伸）の通訳よりはるかにマシだね。山本（由伸）の通訳は、どんなに良い人だとしても、断トツで未熟だからな…。
Okamoto is notorious for being dry and one syllable answers, even in his native language. To the extent people find it humorous and laugh. Sometimes it’s unintentional but it’s so awkward that it’s comical. It’s definitely not the fault of the interpreter, the guy is better than Yamamotos interpreter who is by far the most unskilled, nice as he maybe…
岡本は史上最高のルーキーシーズンを過ごしたけど、これからもっと素晴らしいシーズンがやってくるに違いないね。

He was fantastic. I’d be so disappointed if I was him as he specifically signed with the blue jays to go up against the Dodgers. The blue jays played worse than a triple A team this year. They needed to put this guy in the clean up position and send vlad to the minors. If I was in the higher ups of this organization, I’d be looking for a new manager. Schneider does not have what it takes.

Please keep Schneider the coach!!! Blue Jays are amazing, the friendships, the constant helping each teammate, they show such friendship to each other, whether they are players, staff, trainers, it's so enjoyable to watch... I never give up on them, tomorrow is always another day. Look ahead but learn from previous plays and never dwell on the past.. Vladdy, needs to learn he is one of the team members and he is not # 1.....needs to know he is not the topper on a pedestal....be human and a teammate!!!

Kazuma Okamoto is very serious, hardworking, and doesn't get injured much. And he is good at defense. He has won gold gloves three times in NPB.😊
