いかにもAFCらしい意思決定だな。金があるから実現はしないだろうけど、東アジア・太平洋連盟の分離発足が待ち遠しいよ。

China: Due to our pandemic policies we can't host it in the current conditions.
AFC: The show must go on, we'll find a new host. What's that South Korea - you're ready to step in as host? Lol no. By 'new host' we mean we'll find a Middle Eastern nation.

In 2026:
Saudi Arabia: We keep bombing Yemen in what some have described as a genocide, and now they're fighting back, so we can't host it in the current conditions.
AFC: No worries, we'll push the tournament back a year to accomodate you.

Definitely on brand when it comes to AFC's decision making. It'll never happen because money, but a breakaway East Asia/Pacific Confederation can't come soon enough.

And considering that this is 2025 data, war in Iran and AI boom: probably they are now just stright up richer than UAE.
Basically what I want to say: GS economic dominance over the Asia isn't due to their riches, but because they are run in moronic way throwing finite resoursces as if it was infinite.

I think people would be fine with a delay until June-July for a guaranteed hosting in East Asia. Bit different to a yearlong delay with every chance of having the same problem again.

This has been obvious for nearly two months now, the AFC could've organised a backup host during that time if they actually took the threat seriously. i honestly think this makes sense (while acknowledging the supreme corruption in afc towards gulf nations/saudi). it could have easily been moved to australia and had a great asian cup tbf, but the answer is not always "the show goes on." there are a bunch of afc countries directly/indirectly involved in the war right now. we already saw that travel was difficult for many teams in the wc (iraqi team couldnt fly, i'm sure other issues like that could happen) the iran nt is very affected by the war, due to start-stop nature of league in the last couple years, etc, 3-5 other teams are being bombed by either side. its juts not the time imo, at least some normalcy could be established by next year (hopefully).
