あのレベルでは、練習試合でPKを「練習」して上手くなるなんてことはないよ。PKを蹴ることで得られるものよりも、自分の蹴り方を見せることで失うものの方がはるかに大きい。

At that level you dont “practice penalties” in a friendly to get better. You lose alot more by showing your penalty kicks than you gain from kicking one.

Just take turns aiming for a different body part on the keeper. Invent a new variant of "HORSE" but for penalties. Deliberately aim for the crossbar. Have some fun with it and poison the data that is normally used against you.

You gain a lot more than you lose because you can mislead opponents going the opposite way you usually would. Unless that's what you WANT them to think 🧠🧠🧠

I’d disagree about it being anywhere close to ideal. It’s the consequences that comes from missing that make them hard.

As a keeper it’s so invaluable. Practice simply cannot replicate the intensity, gamesmanship, attempts to read each other, etc.

The only reason I can think of why they wouldn’t want to take the pens is that it creates data points for future opponents to study on your players’ penalty tendencies. But honestly if you’re that worried about it just sub in a bunch of guys who are unlikely to ever take a competitive pen and let them have fun.

The third has to be a normal penalty, which is what allows the fourth and fifth to also be panenkas. Sort of like the John Mulaney story about putting "What's New Pussycat" and "She's Not Unusual" on the Jukebox

You’re just proving the point. How many of them will have to take a penalty? Are they thinking about this on their holiday? it's good training I do agree they should have done the shootout for the fans. But is it genuinely good training above what you would do at a standard training? When a shootout is plausible in a competitive setting the goalkeeping staff will prepare and analyze likely shooting direction for opposition players. And wouldn't actually doing the shootout here just give more data for other teams to analyze at a later date? Also a large part of a penalty shootout is the stress that comes with what's a…
