He smoked it! It blows my mind how the Rays are so good yet the stadium is so empty. I don't see how a salary cap helps this situation. The team already has the best record in the AL so competitive balance isn't the issue but if you add a salary floor of $170M+ it seems that you'd be doing more to hurt this team than to help it.

I think forcing them to spend might help fan engagement somewhat since it would incentivize the team to retain more players. It's hard to get emotionally invested in a group of guys you know are never sticking around for more than a few years. But I really think a nicer stadium that's easy for people to get to would help them more than anything.
