As much as #8 was incredible, I was really impressed by #17, who I think was a substitute. 今そのコメントは見つからないんだけど、今年の初めくらいのごく最近の話。現在EFLでプレーしているあるプロ選手（名前は忘れた）が言ってたんだけど、彼がプレミアリーグのユースにいた頃、日本のこういう高校生チームと対戦したんだって。そして彼の人生で唯一、一刻も早く終わってほしいと思った試合がそれだったらしい。5-0とかでボコボコにされて、負け方があまりにも屈辱的だったと。彼らの監督が日本の監督に近寄って『君たちの選手には素晴らしい未来があるね』と言ったら、日本の監督は『この子たちは大学に進学して、結局サッカーを辞めてしまうだろう。日本の文化ではプロサッカー選手になる夢を追うよりも、安定の方が重視されるから、プロになるよりも選んだ分野で就職する方が確実なんだ』と答えたらしい

I cannot find his comment now but this is very recent, earlier this year. Some professional player (I can't remember his name) who is currently in the EFL said that when he was an academy player for one of the Premier League teams, they played against these high school kids from Japan and that was the only game in his life where he wanted the game to be over as soon as possible. They got wrecked. Like 5-0, but the way they lost was just so embarrassing. Their coach approached the Japanese coach and said, "your players have bright futures" to which the Japanese coach said that those high school kids will then go to University and eventually stop playing soccer but "security" in more valued in the Japanese culture rather than chasing their dreams to be professional footballers, they have a better chance securing a job in their chosen field than to make it as a Pro.

I don't know that we are watching the same video. 8 definitely had a number of good passes and was looking for his teammates, but there was a lot of selfish and ineffective play here. No, it's pretty real. Elite 16, 17, and 18 year olds are easily this technical. Also bear in mind this artificial pitch has such short grass you could play futsal on it. Makes tech easier to do. The issue this grey team would run into against international peers of their level is how undersized most of them are. e.g., #8 is brilliant but 5'10"+ academy players in Europe and the like would just 'lightly' foul him until he's frustrated. No one on this blue and white team was being physical enough with him.
