福島の名前はチェルノブイリと同列に語られがちだけど、それは本当に不公平だ。原発事故による放射線での死者は、作業員1名だけ。何十年経っても癌の急増などは起きていない。実際、政府は避難指示を出したことで、病院や介護施設を空にした結果、避難しなければ助かったはずの数十人を不必要に死なせてしまった可能性があると認めている。
The city’s name is mentioned in the same vein as Chernobyl but it’s really unfair. There was exactly one death from radiation in the nuclear plant accident, a plant worker. And no bloom of cancers decades later or anything of that nature. In fact the government has said that the evacuation they ordered probably ended up needlessly killing a couple dozen people when they emptied hospitals and nursing homes that would have been better off just sheltering in place.
