In the 1st, Vargas drew a walk, stole his 20th base, and scored his 100th run on a Murakami single. He became the first player in franchise history with 30 HRs, 30 2Bs, 20 SBs, and 100 runs in a season.
B. Montgomery hit a ground-rule double in the 5th, breaking an 0-for-22 streak. He later scored on an Antonacci sac fly.
Burke allowed 1 run in 6.0 IP. He started strong, but struggled later.
Vargas led off the 6th with a solo HR.
Schultz and Taylor combined for 3 shutout innings to hold onto the lead.

All statlines that include SB are cherrypicked. Frank Thomas had like 10 better seasons than Miguel Vargas but the OP is presented like White Sox have never had a good player before, its sort of disrespectful.

I agree that most stat lines are cherrypicked (any time I mention one my wife trolls me with “on a Tuesday?” and I fully acknowledge that she has a point about how specific combinations are presented to highlight so many of first s and best s and records we hear about in baseball). AND, Frank Thomas is an undisputed legend in a league all his own. No argument. However, Miguel Vargas truly has had an amazing season, and I’m happy to see him get his flowers. He doesn’t have to be Frank Thomas to be the leader of this team this year. Also, asked about it in the postgame interview, his entire attitude was “I mean, I just want to do everything I can to help the team keep stacking wins.” He’s not go around hunting for accolades or anything. He’s just keeping after it, being absolute nails for the Sox this year. I, for one, love to see it.

Saying a particular stat line achieved by a current player never happened before doesn't imply at all that the team has never had a good or better player before. I struggle to see how anyone with any sense of what each stat means could come to that conclusion.
