理屈としては理解できるし解説のオーレルがその時言ったことも聞いたけど、もし本塁で刺せる送球なら捕手は1アウトなんだから勝ち越し点を防ぎにいくはず。フレディが一塁に残ってても翔平は刺せないと分かってたから捕手は早くプレートを離れたし、フレディは完全にアウトになった。捕手が本塁で待ってれば2人ともセーフだったよ

I understand the conceptual logic in some situations and heard what Orel said in the moment, but I think if the throw had a shot at the plate the catcher tries to stop the go ahead run with only one out. He knew he couldn’t get Sho even if Freddie stayed at first so he stepped away from the plate early and Freddie was dead in his tracks. If the catcher waits at the plate they’re both safe

Love him to death and he’s super smart on the bases - hard to adjust the brain to what the body can’t do the same. Could have used the runner and out in that situation for sure, but to be fair the catcher attacked the throw to shorten the time. Not nearly as inappropriate a decision as Pages and Miggy’s pitch challenge situations (and how far wrong they were to boot)
