From what I’ve heard he applied for a visa but was rejected, so Somalia gave him a Diplomatic Passport to bypass the process. But strictly speaking you can only use a Diplomatic Passport when representing the country, and he is there on behalf of FIFA, not Somalia so they rejected his entry because of that.

It doesn’t, but the bar for it is pretty much lower if not non-existent, as it was used for national business. So unless he has some really serious issues, which we can assume none since he was already appointed by FIFA, a deny is a pretty fucked up thing. He also went through official channels to get help, ie Somali Embassy in Kenya. Seems like the US didn’t want him in regardless otherwise they would’ve worked with the embassy to get him the proper visa.
