今の日本の課題は、選手が欧州トップレベルに達した一方で監督の戦術的アップデートが追いついていないこと。80年代やJリーグ創生期の価値観がまだ残っている。

The problem with Japan right now is that while the players have caught up to European levels, the quality of managers are still lagging behind. A lot of people in manager /coaching position are people who used to be players in the 80s or earlier, and Moriyasu was a player in the early days of J league. You are talking about a time when Hans oft introducing basic concepts like pass and go and triangle to the NT was such a big deal that those terms became buzzwords in Japanese football in the 90s.…

プレミア以外ならもっと上位のチームに行けたはずだし、残留する手もあった。だが彼は昔からプレミアで遊ぶのが夢だと語っていたんだ。夢が叶って本当に嬉しいし、クラブの成功期を支えた最高の選手だよ。

Could've likely gotten a better team outside of the Prem - hell I'd argue staying where he was would also be better in that sense - but he has been outspoken about his dream of playing in that league since forever. Very happy that he gets to fulfill it, great player who was a very important piece for one of our most successful periods ever

うわあ、リーズとかもっと定着しているプレミアのクラブに行くと思ってた。ハル・シティにとってはとてつもなく大きな補強だよ。

うちのチーム（リーズ）には守備的MFの位置でプレーできる選手（ロングスタッフ、アンパドゥ、グルエフ等）が十分に揃っていたから、噂はデマだったんだろうな。

We have enough players who can play his position, all Sean Longstaff, Ampadu and Gruev can play as a defensive midfielder, even Stach can in theory though we won’t play him there. Just wasn’t a player we were ever looking at despite the random fake links to him.

Physical issues have been his big problem. Otherwise, I'm sure he'd have more established teams looking to sign him. But he's a very good, hard-working player and seems to be an even better person. The fact that he chose not to renew for us, left for free, and still got standing ovations and love from the supporters and everyone at the club in his goodbye says it all. I'm glad he's finally realizing his dream of playing in the Premier League. I'll be keeping an eye on Hull this season.
