誤審で消えた幻の完全試合？伝説の28アウトゲームを振り返る海外の反応

こんなことが起こったのはずっとムカついてるけど、ジム・ジョイスが自分のミスを認めて、本当に悪かったと思ってたのはリスペクトするわ。あんな大失態の責任を取る審判はそうそういないだろ。

I’ll forever be mad this happened, but I also respect the fact that Jim Joyce owned up to his mistake and truly felt terrible for it. Not many umps would take accountability for that blunder

I understand that. But guys like Angel Hernandez or CB Buckner would probably just scoff it off (or play the victim) and not care they missed the call. Jim at least cared he messed with history and cried over it

His post game getting emotional that he messed up made me respect the hell out of him. It takes a big man to admit when they’ve messed up, especially something that huge.

リプレイはどちらにしても導入される予定だったけど、まさにこれは新時代の到来を告げる先駆けだったな。レイ・チャップマン※がデッドボール時代を終わらせたわけではないけど、変化の象徴になったのと同じようにね。

Replay was coming no matter what, but yes, this was the herald, the layer in the sediment that made it clear we were entering a new era. Just as Ray Chapman didn’t end the dead-ball era by himself, but serves as the symbol for change.

Just like with four-homer games, perfect games are these weird things that either get remembered as an example of the greatness of a Hall of Famer or these random flukes that end up forgotten. For Roy Halladay or Sandy Koufax, the perfect game is a key part of the story of their greatness; for others, it’s just a thing that happened by fluke

俺はダラス・ブレーデン※のが好きだね。確かにあれも偶然の部類に入るけど、母の日に、母親が亡くなってから自分を育ててくれた祖母の前で達成したっていうのが、すごく感情的で意味深い感じがするから。彼はキャリアで他に完投試合すらなくて、ましてや完封もノーヒットノーランもなかった。だけどあの特別な機会に完璧を成し遂げたんだ。

I like Dallas Braden’s because although it definitely falls into the fluke category, the fact that it was on Mother’s Day in front of his grandma who raised him after his mom passed away makes it feel so emotional and meaningful. The guy never had even another complete game in his career, let alone a shutout or no-hitter. But on the most special occasion he achieved perfection.

I’ll remember this game because the Yankees were getting killed the Sox at Fenway. Fox cut into the Humber game to catch the perfect game, and by the time they cut back the Yankees were either close to tying or already ahead. The Yanks went onto win that game.

うわ、あのドミンゴ・ヘルマンの完全試合は、彼のそのシーズンの残りの成績を考えると、本当に異例なことだったよな。

Man, that Domingo German perfect game felt like such an aberration, especially considering how the rest of his season went.
