The amount of times i’d see him still running down defenders at 90 odd minutes, like it was the 10th minute, was ridiculous. He just never ever tired, i can’t remember ever seeing him look tired in a game. Ridiculous stamina. There was once in a friendly i think, he got subbed off, then started doing press ups in the dug out lol

As a pressing forward, I cant think of any one with his work rate. Watkins and Shane Long are two I always think of as workhorses in terms of how good they are at closing down, but im not sure I've ever seen anyone do it like maeda. If there are many keepers thinking they can invite the press like we've seen alot last season, they are in trouble His ability to get from a defender to the keeper back to a defender again without being noticed is insane

He's definitely technically gifted, just look at his overhead goal against Rangers last season, but he's inconsistent. He can do something like that one minute, then completely fluff a one on one or fail to control a simple pass the next minute.

On paper it's a great deal for Ipswich. Not a massive outlay and I think his pace/pressing will make a massive difference for them especially if they need to sit back. If he's 1 on 1 with the Keeper though, he will almost always miss so get used to that.

I don't know exactly how Ipswich are going to play, but his pressing will be useful for any team. By the way, in Japan we call his role a "Defensive Forward" (DFW). If you let him run for 90 minutes, he'll probably force the opposition keeper and center-backs into about five big mistakes. And yeah, he'll also make some absolutely unbelievable mistakes whenever he gets on the ball, but that's part of his charm too. Either way, I'm pretty sure everyone will end up loving him.

Watched him play in Champions league games where he only touched the ball a half dozen times in the full 90 minutes, done nothing remarkable with it and yet he was still Celtic's best player. The work he does off the ball is just absolutely insane and he never stops doing it until the final whistle. Even when he's having a shocker, he's still having a good game because of of everything else he does, bargain at this price.
